Activities in and around St Lucia
The average holiday maker will not have enough time to undertake all the activities on offer in St Lucia, which cover the entire spectrum of beach and bush. Lalapanzi's reception office offers a "one stop reservations shop" to all these activities. We only book with certified, experienced Tour Operators.
Hippo/Croc tours on the Estuary - enjoy a 2 hour boat ride on the estuary. This tour will produce numerous sightings of hippos, crocodiles and an amazing array of birdlife. You may even be lucky enough to spot that elusive leopard!
Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Safari. Join a half or full day tour of SA's oldest proclaimed Game Reserve, with the possibility of sighting the legendary Big 5. This is game viewing at its best. Tours are conducted in Open Game Drive vehicles.
Night Drives. Visit nature's shy, nocturnal creatures on this 3 hour tour. Tours are available on the Eastern or Western shores of Lake St Lucia. Again, that elusive leopard may make its stealthy appearance!
Cape Vidal Tour. Enjoy a relaxed drive out to Cape Vidal, game viewing on the way. On arrival at this magnificent beach, enjoy snorkelling the sheltered waters behind the reef. Plan your tour date to coincide with low tide for the best snorkelling opportunities.
Whale Watching. Humpback whales travel past St Lucia, on their way to calve in the warm waters of Mozambique, from June to December each year. Join a boat trip, launching from St Lucia's beach into the open ocean, to witness these amazing creatures in their natural habitat.
Turtle Tours. The endangered Loggerhead and Leatherback sea turtles come ashore to nest on our beaches from November to February each year. Experience the magic of a night time beach drive in search of the age old ritual of a turtle heaving herself up the beach to deposit her eggs in a nest in the sand. If you are not emotionally moved after this experience, you are not human!
Birding. Over half of SA's bird species can be found in this area. A must for the avid twitcher. We can link you up with specialist Bird Guides.
Remember - if you don't go home to rest after your holiday, you didn't have a good holiday!
